Coordinated response to supply chain disruptions affecting food businesses

Queensland food businesses are being encouraged to stay informed and seek support as national food regulators respond to supply chain disruptions linked to the Middle East conflict.

Last week, Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) brought together the Implementation Subcommittee for Food Regulation (ISFR) Incident Response Working Group. The group is coordinating a consistent, national approach to help food businesses manage disruptions and meet their obligations under the Food Standards Code.

The approach is based on lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic. It allows businesses to report supply chain issues and request regulator advice where compliance challenges may arise.

FSANZ has published a dedicated webpage for food businesses. It includes:

  • links to food regulators across Australia
  • a simple form to report supply chain issues to your local regulator

Queensland accreditation holders under the Food Production (Safety) Act 2000 are encouraged to review this information and use the reporting process if needed.

Food regulators across Australia will continue working together to support industry through these challenges. Businesses and peak bodies are also invited to share feedback or request further discussions on emerging issues.
